As Twitchy reported, the House Rules Committee met Monday to prepare a resolution that would rebuke President Obama for arranging the prisoner swap of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban prisoners. As expected, that resolution made it to the floor of the House Tuesday, where it passed 249-163.

House Speaker John Boehner released a statement accusing the president of making America less safe.
By setting free five top Taliban commanders from U.S. custody, the Obama administration made Americans less safe http://t.co/y06Gos027Q

Many Republicans & Democrats have grave concerns about Pres Obama’s release of these terrorists: http://t.co/tnpMiyxnTY
— John Boehner (@SpeakerBoehner) September 9, 2014
“By negotiating with terrorists, the Obama administration encouraged our enemies. By setting free five top Taliban commanders from U.S. custody, the Obama administration made Americans less safe. And by ignoring the law that requires the White House to notify Congress at least 30 days before implementing this kind of transfer, the Obama administration did damage to our institutions of democratic government. Today’s vote demonstrates that many Republicans and Democrats have grave concerns about President Obama’s release of these terrorists and how it impacts our foreign policy and Americans’ safety.”

Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) also weighed in, citing the president’s “disturbing habit of ignoring our nation’s laws.”
WH's decision to release 5 Taliban detainees w/out notifying Congress was unlawful, cavalier & dangerous http://t.co/MkNUcfOVSc
— Tom Price (@RepTomPrice) September 9, 2014
“The Obama Administration has developed a disturbing habit of ignoring our nation’s laws. In the case of the five Taliban detainees who were released from Guantanamo Bay, failing to follow the law and notify Congress was a needlessly cavalier move by the president on an issue of grave importance to the nation’s security and that of our armed forces stationed around the world. Even if the president had abided by the law, there are serious concerns about releasing these five detainees and the threat they could pose to the American people and American interests.
“It should come as no surprise to President Obama that Congress and the American people would have objections to his administration negotiating with terrorists. Trying to ignore or avoid addressing those concerns by subverting the laws of this land is simply inexcusable.”
