As Twitchy reported today, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith was suspended for a week following on-air comments about domestic violence and advising women not to “do anything to provoke wrong actions.” One of those most taken aback by Smith’s comments was ESPN colleague Michelle Beadle, who tweeted after seeing Smith’s segment, “I’m now aware that I can provoke my own beating.”
Beadle faced a nasty backlash from Smith’s supporters, and that backlash has continued today with the announcement of Smith’s suspension.
