Surprise: Covered California extends Obamacare signup 'deadline'

Covered California has reportedly extended by two weeks the “deadline” for signing up for health insurance in the state, tweeting Monday night that website problems are responsible for the extension.

“We were prepared for a last-minute surge of people coming to our website, but sometimes there’s only so much you can do operationally,” said Covered California executive director Peter V. Lee in a press release. “While we had hoped people would start the enrollment process earlier, we can’t in good conscience turn people away who simply couldn’t get onto the website on the last day.”
