Director seeking to crowd-fund film about Kermit Gosnell murder trial

“FrackNation” director Phelim McAleer and his team are hoping to finance a film about Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell, who is currently serving life in prison on first-degree murder charges, manslaughter and more.

McAleer had hoped to raise $2.1 million through a Kickstarter campaign, although, according to Truth Revolt, Kickstarter initially refused to allow the team to use factual language about Gosnell’s crimes in their post. “They asked us to remove the descriptions of a serial killer committing his crimes,” McAleer says.

Gosnell was found guilty of killing newborn babies by severing their spinal cords with scissors. Jurors also learned that Gosnell kept babies’ severed feet in jars and stored other body parts in cabinets and freezers.

After Kickstarter warned McAleer that his project could be pulled at any time, crowdfunding moved to IndieGoGo.com. If the financial goal can be met, McAleer and his team intend to shoot not a documentary but instead a narrative feature focusing on the Gosnell trial.
