Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo., is known for his unusual social media antics. He recently criticized the “extra-double lesbian loving” Barilla chairman over his stance to not feature same-sex couples in the company’s advertising. And he once tweeted a photo of himself rolling around on the ground like a happy dog.
Today he decided to write a poem criticizing Sen. Ted Cruz over his effort to defund Obamacare. At one point during his 21-hour filibuster, Cruz read Dr. Seuss’ “Green Eggs and Ham” into the Congressional Record. Remarkably, he managed to tie his recitation into the subject at hand, “because 3 1/2 years ago President Obama and Senate Democrats told the American people, Just try Obamacare. Just try it,” Cruz explained.
“There were an awful lot of Republicans who were very skeptical of it, I think for good reasons, but very skeptical,” he continued, “And we were told try it, try it, try it, try it. Unfortunately, through an exercise of brute political force, Obamacare became the law of the land. But the difference with ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ is when Americans tried it, they discovered they did not like green eggs and ham and they did not like Obamacare either.”
Polis, on the other hand, likes Obamacare, but he did not like Cruz’s filibuster, not one bit.
