A preview of Jay Leno’s interview this afternoon with President Obama, relayed by a White House pool reporter, suggests that the host of “The Tonight Show” did manage to work a couple of “hard” topics into the conversation, if only for the president to dismiss them as more phony scandals for the pile. NBC’s Andrea Mitchell is ready to give Leno a press pass, which isn’t such a far-fetched idea. After all, he asks what he’s told to ask, sets up the laugh lines on cue, and the president actually seems willing to talk to him every year or so.
@mitchellreports Leno should get your job when he retires. He sure is tougher and more objective than you are.

@mitchellreports Andrea, think he may be NBC's only objective reporter. Congratulations to both you and your hardly watched network. #TCOT
