Lupe Fiasco protects Twitter account, unveils flag of newly created North Scorea

After posting his thoughts on the George Zimmerman verdict earlier this week, rapper Lupe Fiasco joked that being retweeted by Glenn Beck was a sure sign that the end times had arrived. The world has kept spinning as usual, but Fiasco did protect his Twitter account this week following backlash over his assessment of the Zimmerman trial, which he said should never have been televised: “the potential to antagonize U.S. race relations was, in my dumb, opinion too risky and unnecessary,” he concluded.

It wasn’t all backlash, certainly. While P. DiddyBig BoiNicki MinajBusta Rhymes and countless other rappers reacted to the verdict with outrage and disgust, Fiasco’s more introspective take resonated with many of his 1.4 million followers.

Though he’s not accepting new followers, Fiasco welcomed his remaining followers to what he’s calling “the Happy Republic of North Scorea,” a “happy place full of happy intelligent folk” where “offenses such as e-bullying, slander and all around unsavory fortitudes are Thinnable offenses resulting in immediate expulsion.” He also unveiled an interim flag to represent his new utopia.

North Scorea does, however, maintain normal trade relations with the United States through the unprotected @lupefiascostore account.
