Senate leadership today might have reached a compromise that will avert Majority Leader Harry Reid’s threat to use the “nuclear option,” but it was Texas Sen. Ted Cruz who dropped a bomb this evening. The Senate was saved, and Reid expressed his hope that Democrats and Republicans will once again work together to further the Democrats’ agenda.
We retain the right to change the rules if necessary. But this is a new day in the Senate, and I hope we’ll be able to work together.

Back to business as usual, then?
@SenTedCruz Oh that's cold. Good, true, but cold.

@SenTedCruz Was there any doubt? Surrender isn't the option, it is the standard.

@ByronYork @SenTedCruz Again the truth from Cruz!

#WhiteFlagBrigade @SenTedCruz Today, re: the so-called nuclear option, Senate Republicans preserved the right to surrender in the future.

@SenTedCruz Indeed. They're good at surrendering. Dems play hardball, Reps play slow pitch softball.

@SenTedCruz every rep who voted for it should resign now, please save us from the spineless

@SenTedCruz at what cost today. Reid never wanted nuke. GOP caves to bluff again…. #disgusted

Why don't Republicans in DC realize the media will ALWAYS be against them; might as well fight like @SenTedCruz instead of fold.

Remember this guy?
It's shameful that in effort to save #filibuster we may get a Labor Secretary that interfered with SCOTUS docket & ignored House subpoena
— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) July 16, 2013
What's the point of keeping #filibuster in Senate if in return #GOP has to help confirm a Labor secretary nominee that has misled Congress?
