Sally Kohn: GOP using late-term abortion to make all abortions look bad

The trial of Kermit Gosnell, who was found guilty of murdering three babies (or, as the New York Times put it, three fetuses that had been removed from their mothers), pulled back the curtain on the horrors of late-term abortion. Fox News contributor Sally Kohn managed to find the lesson in it all: the way to keep prevent future Gosnells was to keep abortion safe, legal and affordable. Putting the happy face back on abortion would be a struggle, but advocates haven’t given up.

The shadow of Gosnell looms large over the abortion debate, inspiring the “far-reaching” Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which passed the House today but has no chance in the Senate. The bill restricts most abortions past 20 weeks after conception, which accounts for fewer than 2 percent of all abortions performed. But, as Rep. Nancy Pelosi has said, the protection of late-term abortion is “sacred ground.” Don’t dare call her an extremist, though.

So much for all of those tweets, then, claiming that 90 percent or more of American citizens favored sweeping gun control legislation. If something’s a right, it’s a right, and as far as the Obama administration is concerned, the right to choose is a Constitutional right, and any challenge to Roe v. Wade shows contempt for the Constitution itself.
