Columnist Dick Polman denies Gosnell trial cover up, yet misstates charges

If you’ve followed Twitchy’s coverage of the Kermit Gosnell trial, you’re familiar with Bucks County Courier Times columnist J.D. Mullane and his tireless reporting on the trial. He also posted the photo of the rows of empty media seats in the courtroom. Don’t let that lead you to believe that there was any effort by the media to gloss over the story, says columnist Dick Polman.

As Mullane points out, though, in his attempt to debunk the myth that the liberal media “refused to cover the story because they supposedly didn’t want to publicize the dark side of abortion,” Polman mischaracterizes the actual charges in the case.

The right’s worst delusion is its belief that Gosnell — charged with four counts of killing fetuses during illegal late-term procedures — will be a boon to the national anti-abortion movement. [emphasis added]

No less than the New York Times and the Daily Beast also tried to report that Gosnell was on trial for the killing of “fetuses” which were born alive and had their spinal cords snipped. Gosnell also faces 24 counts of performing abortions past Pennsylvania’s 24-week gestational age limit and a murder charge in the death of a 41-year-old woman. But conservatives are the delusional ones?
