Bill Ayers: Don't lump me in with those other terrorist bombers

Bill Ayers is just a guy who lives in President Barack Obama’s neighborhood in Chicago, but for some reason he was at Kent State University last weekend, serving as the keynote speaker at the annual commemoration of the 1970 National Guard shootings on campus. He told the audience there that there’s no connection between himself and the Boston Marathon bombers whatsoever.

“How different is the shooting in Connecticut from shooting at a hunting range?” Ayers said, according to the Akron Beacon-Journal. “Just because they use the same thing, there’s no relationship at all.” Sure, three members of the Weather Underground were killed while building nail bombs they had planned to detonate at an Army dance, so it’s understandable that some people might see a similarity, but there’s a difference, according to Ayers: “Property damage. That’s what we did.”

That’s certainly not the only difference. Just check out the #HowAyersIsDifferentThanTsarnaev hashtag for the more nuanced look at good vs. bad terrorist bombings.

No party, but he did retweet this:

We know that liberals are the experts when it comes to nuance, but some of these differences still seem really, really slim.
