Unpaid interns likely helping Sen. Elizabeth Warren push for minimum wage hike

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren certainly isn’t the only legislator whose office relies on unpaid interns to do the jobs that senior staffers just won’t do. But with Warren at the forefront of the push to raise the minimum wage (which she’s said would be $22 an hour if raises kept up with worker productivity), doesn’t $0 seem a little low?

If equal pay for equal work is so important, then interns must be worth at least $7.25 an hour, right?

Legal Insurrection did some research and learned that, sadly, none of the internships Warren’s office is currently offering is a paid position, nor were internships for Warren’s campaign last year. Even the people who printed the ad soliciting campaign interns donated their work, it seems.
