Odd optics: Connecticut Obama fans cheering as president passionately talks about "putting 154 bullets into school children"

So, we’re not the only ones who found the crowd’s whistles, cheers and chants a little out of place at President Obama’s afternoon gun control rally in Connecticut.
Cheers and shouts of "we love you Obama" from crowd offer sharp contrast to Obama's somber words and the sad faces of the Newtown families

“Connecticut, this is not about me,” said the president, perhaps as a reminder to the audience or even to himself. Even CBS News’ Mark Knoller couldn’t help but notice the “campaign-style cadence.”

There’s no denying that the president feeds off of an audience’s enthusiasm, and today’s speech was no exception, with journalists describing Obama not as the relatively safe “passionate” but rather outright “angry.”

Very angry Obama. As angry as I can ever recall him. #guns #filibuster

That was a pretty emotional plea for gun control from Obama. At times could hear his voice cracked, his eyes were teary.

There’s also no denying that Obama’s fans do love him.

Here’s a pretty solid recap for those who missed the live telecast.
