In two votes tonight, the Senate approved modest reforms which are intended to help break the gridlock in Washington and move legislation through Congress more quickly.
Basically they allow the Senate to move onto a bill or a nomination more quickly (motion to proceed)

The rules changes also make it easier to send bills to House-Senate negotiations (conference)

The 60-vote threshold remains in place & there is no requirement for "Mr Smith Goes to Washington" filibusters

Sounds good, doesn’t it? The move was applauded by President Obama.
What's the @whitehouse reaction to the back stabbing from Harry Reid on filibuster reform? #filibuster #senate @senatorreid

Obama: I urged Congress to..to fix the way they do business..I am pleased that a bipartisan group of Sens has agreed to take action.

Other liberals weren’t so happy with the Senate Majority Leader. For once, Speaker John Boehner wasn’t the one on Capitol Hill being accused of caving.
Harry Reid either got punk'd. Or he is one.

WARNING LIBERAL POLITICS: I'm so angry at Harry Reid and the timid senior Democrats in the Senate right now. http://t.co/i6PY50qr

I can't stop tweeting this. Harry Reid sold us out. He caved on Filibuster Reform. There will be NO new gun laws passed. Thank you, Harry.

Also, Senate bills will be written on the side of a football which Mitch McConnell will hold steady for Harry Reid to kick. Promise. #Maddow

Harry Reid is going to have to ask Pelosi to lend him her balls. He can't seem to find his anywhere. Sure she has a spare set.

. @senatorreid should resign from the Senate in disgrace and apologize to the American people. Actually, the whole Congress should resign.
— Paul Hindes (@paulhindes) January 25, 2013
@SenatorReid sold America down the river tonight. He needs to resign. Today.
