Walmart hasn’t been shy about defending itself in the face of union-backed protests and threats of Black Friday walkouts. Today the retailer tweeted that fewer than 50 of its 1.3 million employees actually walked off the job and called reports of protests “grossly exaggerated.” Walmart also reported brisk sales, which prompted actress Mia Farrow to demand that the store “cough it up” and pay workers a decent wage. It seems Walmart isn’t about to be intimidated by unions or Hollywood.

Actually, that was Walmart’s stock response to a number of tweeters, including groups such as Occupy Austin and Change Walmart. But as long as we have Farrow’s attention …
