Sen. Saxby Chambliss gives insight into closed-door Benghazi briefing; terrorist attack 'crystal clear' on Day 1

When Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss emerged from today’s closed-door sessions for lawmakers on the events in Benghazi, Libya on Sept. 11, Fox News cameras were waiting. Among the insight that Chambliss was willing to share was that those involved knew immediately that the assault on the U.S. consulate and CIA annex was a premeditated terrorist attack.

So, if it was obvious from Day 1 that the attack didn’t arise from a “spontaneous” protest over a YouTube video, how does that explain Amb. Susan Rice’s many Sunday morning appearances repeating that theory?

That’s the question we’d all like to hear answered, but it seems we’ll have to wait a bit longer.

What about the emerging story that the CIA was holding Libyan prisoners at the annex in Benghazi — a story which was spread by David Petraeus biographer Paula Broadwell at a speech in Denver and emerged in the wake of his resignation over their affair?

Petraeus is scheduled to testify tomorrow morning. That session will be closed to the public, but hopefully cameras will be waiting outside the door; we’ve waited long enough already for answers.
