Former Clinton Labor Secretary Robert B. Reich is getting awfully philosophical — emphasis on awfully — as the polls turn in favor of Mitt Romney. Now he’s reviving the old line often attributed to community organizer “Mother” Mary Jones to express his wish for another four years of Obama and his quest to afflict the comfortable. We didn’t think it was government’s job to afflict anyone, but we admit to being bitter clingers to the Constitution.

@RBReich Who do you think comforts the afflicted? The "comfortable" give to charity, r generous, volunteer, etc. Obama isnt comforting any1.

@RBReich Any government that actively seeks to afflict any of its citizens is a government that is worthy of revolution. #LittleManComplex

.@RBReich AFFLICT THE COMFORTABLE! RE-ELECT THE PRESIDENT!

@RBReich Afflict the comfortable? Gosh, I really want to vote for the President now, what an inspirational message.

The job of government isn't to exact your will to power, your aesthetics, or your private theory of cosmic justice @rbreich
— Jonah Goldberg (@JonahDispatch) October 30, 2012
It is because people fear that Obama might agree with @Rbreich that the tea party exists.

@RBReich Absorbing deep thoughts like that made Obama the empty suit he is today.

Reich found time to politicize Hurricane Sandy as well. But if we’re all in this together, who’s going to be doing the afflicting?
Whether it's a hurricane or everyday life, basic question is are we all in this together or is each on his own? That's the choice on 11/6.

.@RBReich You are a horrible person.

The only way people can come together is through the Federal government? Are you that dumb? @RBReich

Hmm. The government is the only thing we all belong to? Where did we hear that recently? Ah yes, the Democratic National Convention. If that’s the choice on Nov. 6, no thanks.
