New York City to close bridges at 7 p.m.; Residents fear 'Dark Knight Rises' scenario

New York City will close all bridges this evening at 7 p.m. in the face of Hurricane Sandy. The bridges were expected to stay open on the condition that winds remained below 60 mph, but with gusts rising to 85 mph, the city has made the call to seal them off.

We don’t think a spoiler warning is needed here; even the trailers for “The Dark Knight Rises” showed all of the bridges in and out of Gotham City being blown up by evil mastermind Bane, completely sealing off the city. The lockdown of New York City has reminded more than a few people of that fictional scenario.
