Fox’s Chris Wallace confronted Obama senior advisor David Axelrod today about what the president knew about the murders of four Americans in Libya and when he knew it, but Axelrod provided little more than a rerun of deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter’s earlier and offensive statements, passing blame and accusing Mitt Romney of “working to exploit this issue.”
“There’s no doubt that he’s working hard to exploit this issue,” Axelrod told Wallace. “From the beginning of this issue, before any facts were known, he was cravenly trying to exploit it.” Earlier this week, Cutter claimed “the entire reason” Libya was an issue “is because of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. It’s a big part of their stump speech.”

In short, “exploiting” the issue means talking about it. Just wait until the criminal investigation is complete, OK?

Axelrod also continued to push the campaign’s spin on Vice President Joe Biden’s debate remark that “we” weren’t told about requests to beef up security at the consulate in Benghazi. “These requests go into the security professionals into the State Department,” Axelrod said. “It didn’t come to the White House, and that was what the vice president was responding to.”

Anybody watching Axelrod not being able to spin Libya? Even he can't.

Many viewers were amused earlier this week when Cutter appeared to turn red during a particularly rough spin cycle on “Piers Morgan Tonight.” Axelrod, on the other hand, took on a blue cast while being confronted by Wallace.

Axelrod looks like a dead man on tv. He is blue as a smurf. Blood went to feet I guess while lying for Obama. #FNC
