Sandra Fluke moved to prime time to speak out for 'shut out and silenced' women

The wait for Sandra Fluke paid off, as the law school graduate took the stage at the coveted prime-time 10 p.m. slot to deliver a brief speech on behalf of other women who are “shut out and silenced.”

Fluke acknowledged that following the election, “your new president could be a man who stands by when a public figure tries to silence a private citizen with hateful slurs” and praised President Obama for thinking of his daughters, “not his delegates or donors,” when a woman was verbally attacked.

The speech didn’t last long, but here are some shorter versions.

Fluke did manage in her few words to accuse vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan of co-sponsoring a bill “that would allow pregnant women to die preventable deaths in our emergency rooms.”

Yes, Fluke did leave the stage to a standing ovation.

Fluke said she was there to speak out on behalf of women, but not all women were happy with their DNC surrogate.
