Rumors of Brazilian soccer star Pelé’s death spread today after Mexico defeated Brazil at the Olympic Games.

Many blamed Mexican fans for starting the trend after Pelé tweeted that Brazil was still “the best team” despite the 2-1 loss.

Pelé, 71, spoke to the BBC yesterday, saying that Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt was “no doubt” one of the greatest sportsmen of all time. He is assisting with the setup of the 2014 Word Cup and 2016 Olympic Games, both of which will be held in Brazil.
