You might be familiar with the term “mission creep” from work. We’ve seen a lot of mission creep from the Left. For example, the Confederate flag, particularly when displayed on a pickup truck, is a sign of white supremacy. OK, we’ll take them down. But what about the Betsy Ross flag? Colin Kaepernick got Nike to pull its shoes featuring the Betsy Ross flag (which was flown at Joe Biden’s inauguration, but whatever). New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay made waves when she took a trip to Long Island and saw “dozens” of American flags, which she said was “just disturbing.” There was finally some pushback when Sen. Ted Cruz pressed FBI Director Christopher Wray on why the FBI saw Gadsden and Betsy Ross flags as “indicative of militia violent extremism.”
Terry Ann got thousands of replies when she posted that when she sees a flag on a house (and American flag, not a Pride flag), her mind doesn’t go to “patriot” but to “right-wing nationalist.”
