Former Planned Parenthood president Leana Wen has become the media’s authority on the coronavirus, despite her doing a 180 on masking school children and admitting that the cloth masks we’d all be forced to wear for two years were “little more than facial decoration.” In a new opinion piece, Wen points out a “new” problem: We’ve been overcounting COVID-19 deaths.
There were stories from the beginning of the pandemic that hospitals were treating things like falls and car accidents as COVID deaths if the person tested positive for the coronavirus. As Wen points out in her piece in the Washington Post, “A gunshot victim or someone who had a heart attack, for example, could test positive for the virus, but the infection has no bearing on why they sought medical care.”
