In December 2020, Boston removed its Emancipation Memorial which had been on display since 1879 because suddenly the sight of Abraham Lincoln freeing a former slave from his chains was making residents and visitors “uncomfortable.” More than 12,000 people had signed a petition demanding the statue’s removal.
Now, just in time for Martin Luther King Day, Boston has unveiled “The Embrace,” honoring King and his wife Coretta Scott King. Where to we sign the petition to have this one removed, because it makes us a little uncomfortable:

How did someone see the mock up for this and think it was a good idea? Two of the angles make it look really bad 😳

The sculpture symbolizes the hug King Jr. shared with his wife after he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 and celebrates their time in Boston. pic.twitter.com/lN6BDIXAxY

Yeah, it looks just like the photo.
That Boston MLK 'statue' is a good litmus test of who is willing to call out absurdity and who is too afraid of being called raysiss
