Gays Against Groomers is happy to announce that an attempt to put together a Guinness Book of World Records “world’s largest Drag Queen Story Hour” in St. Petersburg, Florida, has been canceled. The event was to be “a fabulous family-friendly celebration of literacy.” Maybe it’s just us, but we’d be happy if America’s public school teachers could celebrate literacy by doing their jobs and teaching children to read. But that wouldn’t be “fabulous.”
GREAT NEWS! The world's largest drag queen story hour attempt that was to happen in St. Pete FL later this month has been CANCELED!
We were setting up a huge protest for it, but we're very happy that it will no longer be taking place. pic.twitter.com/EF0F3C2pMW

They probably saw only like 10 people were coming and decided to save themselves the embarrassment and cancel 🤣 Our protest would have completely drowned it out!

Bravo! It’s pressure from you guys that stopped it! 👏👏👏👏

I don’t get it? Why story time? Do shows at bars, casinos or adult places.
— Vicmaro (@Vicmaro11) January 3, 2023
Why? Because Drag Queen Story Hour teaches young children tolerance and acceptance of alternative lifestyles. You have to get to them young before their parents’ “cisnormative” values become ingrained and they believe a mom and dad and their kids in a house is “normal.”

I wouldn't be surprised if they try elsewhere.

We thought you could be thrown in jail in Florida just for saying the word “gay.”
Thank you for fighting for our kids, what a triumph for our kids and for gays❤

It's funny – things like the annual Book Week in primary schools (which actually *are* a celebration of literacy) never have to be advertised as "family friendly".

Schools used to hold annual Dr. Seuss celebrations, but he was canceled in 2021 for his “orientalism, anti-Blackness and White supremacy” and removed from Read Across America Day.
Drag queen shows are for adults only.

What i don't understand is the need to shoehorn fetish into children literacy. Why?
— Kae (@kaevivhaase) January 3, 2023
That’s the question we keep asking. Why the utter desperation to put young children and drag queens together?
