Randi Weingarten says Elon Musk isn't using Twitter for its original intent but as a playground

There’s probably no one who can cook up a ratio on Twitter like American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten. She’s finally figured out that she can limit replies and does so on everything she tweets. You wouldn’t think the AFT would have any business with Twitter, but you’d be wrong — Weingarten says that Elon Musk is using it as his personal playground instead of for its original intent: to be a public square. All we’ve seen so far is people being invited back into that public square, but Weingarten’s not satisfied and has signed onto a statement by the Center for American Progress demanding that Musk be held accountable — by whom and for what, exactly?

Here’s what the Center for American Progress (CAP Action) is demanding: that advertisers make sure Musk “does not profit from dismantling one of the world’s most influential communications platforms”; that the Federal Trade Commission investigate Twitter for any violations; and that Congress hold hearings on the “Thursday Night Massacre,” when nine journalists were suspended for about 48 hours for linking to the location of Musk’s private plane.

Here’s just a sample of their B.S. statement:

Journalism is the cornerstone of free speech, and any attack on journalism is an assault on one of our fundamental pillars. While pretending to give power back to the people, Elon Musk is actually turning Twitter into an autocratic system where neo-Nazi accounts are restored while journalists’ accounts are suspended. This is a dangerous turn that raises deep concerns.

You know Weingarten believes in the public square and free speech by the way she limits replies on every tweet.

Any comment on that? Where was the statement when the entire New York Post’s staff of journalists was held hostage for six weeks for not removing a 100-percent true story from Twitter?

As long as we’re demanding accountability, how about the unions keeping schools closed and denying kids an education? Could we get a congressional hearing on that?
