The Washington Post has lost 500,000 subscribers since January 2021

As you probably know, around a thousand New York Times employees walked off the job Thursday and encouraged people to join the “digital picket line” by not visiting any of the Times’ websites for 24 hours. Most people said they were happy to help, and the Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin even said she’d skip Wordle for the day in solidarity.

Speaking of the Washington Post, it might not be a good time for the staff to start demanding raises. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Post has lost 500,000 subscribers since January 2021 — you could say, the same month that democracy almost died and Joe Biden was sworn in. The Post is now down to 2.5 million subscribers from 3 million in January 2021.

Why do they keep paying Jennifer Rubin and Max Boot to publish the same column every week? How much was the airfare so Taylor Lorenz could harass Libs of TikTok’s family members? But seriously, the Post is expected to generate $600 million in revenue in 2022 and still not make a profit?
