As we like to remind people, it was Disney that chose to go to war with the DeSantis administration, issuing a statement against the Parental Rights in Education bill. In March, the Florida state legislature started discussing repealing the 1967 Reedy Creek Improvement Act, which allows Disney to act as its own government. National Review’s Charles C. W. Cooke wrote that there was no need to “salt the earth” and stripping Disney of its self-governing status was “grotesque.”
It’s funny to look back now at how many people thought this war with Disney would end DeSantis’ run as governor. That stupid Grim Reaper guy thought that Disney workers could be key in voting out DeSantis in 2022. Brian Tyler Cohen said that Disney could move out of Florida and “crash and burn Ron DeSantis’ re-election bid.” Former CNN potato Brian Stelter wanted to be clear that the root of the fight between DeSantis and Disney was “GOP backlash to LGBTQ equality.”
As we all know, DeSantis ran away with the governor’s race, essentially turning Florida into a red state.
Now there’s talk about reversing the repeal of the Reedy Creek Improvement Act.
It looks like Florida might reverse itself and allow Disney to keep its right to run a private government after all.
DeSantis had pushed for the change — and the legislature obliged — after a showdown between DeSantis and Disney.https://t.co/thSha0Pi1P

Sen. Chris Murphy decided to weigh in and say that the reversal wouldn’t get much attention because DeSantis got what he wanted: to pick on gay kids and thus pick up support from the base.
And in the end, Florida didn’t change any policy toward Disney, which is set to lose $100 million with its latest woke offering.
This reversal will get little attention. Desantis got what he wanted. Picking on gay kids and picking up support from the conservative base without, in the end, actually changing any policy toward Disney. https://t.co/3byYa72aLr

Senator, not that “fact checking” is a @TheDemocrats priority as has been shown … but perhaps check with @GovRonDeSantis press secretary for actual facts > https://t.co/SoUiJzeRD2

"Picking on gay kids" is an interesting way of spinning it.

What gay kids are you talking about?

"picking on gay kids"…. Hell of spin you put on there

Keeping teacher-led lessons on gender identity and sexual orientation out of kindergarten actually turned out to be pretty popular.
@Disney Bob Chapek was fired over it!

Returning CEO Bob Iger just said he was going to try to “quiet things down” politically. That sounds like a policy change.
And DeSantis was easily re-elected governor of Florida. Add that the DNC is giving up on Florida. Democrats will not win a statewide race in FL anymore, at least in a very, very long time.

Why does Chris want kindergarten kids to know about sex?

When it gives you the sads that children won’t be sexualized, you might want to do some self reflection. And certain agencies might want to visit your home

“Picking on gay kids” is probably as far as Murphy understood the Parental Rights in Education bill — not surprising, since the media just went along with the Left and called it the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.
