As Twitchy has reported, Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake has gone nuclear after 20 percent of the vote tabulators in Maricopa County, the largest county in Arizona, started spitting out ballots. Maricopa County election officials put out a happy video explaining that if your ballot can’t be tabulated, just drop it in the drop box and they’ll count it later.
Atlantic staff writer Tim Alberta seems to think the problem is Republicans opposing the funding of election administration and opposing private funding for election administration. And then they have the nerve to go crazy when voting machines malfunction.
To recap: Some Rs oppose increased public funding for election admin, oppose any private funding for election admin, then go crazy when voting machines malfunction.

They’re new machines Tim

To recap: if you don’t want to give the government even more money to provide its most basic function, you can’t complain https://t.co/NlFbFmc7ia pic.twitter.com/qFMROVgYwd

That headline reads, “Arizona county to spend $3m on voting machines after audit.”
Not the point. Any elections official will tell you they’re constantly triaging limited resources—cutting seasonal personnel, slashing work hours, limiting test runs. The question isn’t what they spent on new machines; it’s how much they’ve spent testing them & working out bugs. https://t.co/EBZ3NGDyCB

If “election integrity” is the existential priority Rs say it is, they should flood clerks’ offices with the resources they’ve long pleaded for.
(Btw, if it’s shown that these new machines in question were extensively & exhaustively tested, I’ll gladly eat crow)

If the tabulators in Maricopa County were not extensively and exhaustively tested, that’s on Katie Hobbs, the Democrat who’s running against Lake for governor.
"It's your fault we can't do anything right," explained the Democrat

It’s just like Republicans always cutting funding for public schools and then complaining that they suck. Except the schools get plenty of money, as do the teachers’ unions.
“We must reward failure with more money.”

As we were saying.
Can do this for literally every single issue, btw
— LS87NY (@ls87NY) November 8, 2022
how much is enough?
— Foster (@foster_type) November 8, 2022
They use the machines twice a year
— Neil Gorsuch maskless (@GorsuchMaskless) November 8, 2022
Please note that “more people voted for the other guy than for mine” is considered a voting machine malfunction
— (((Ro'ee Orland))) (@roeeorland) November 8, 2022
Funny how those "funding" issues are only in areas that Democrats control…
— JEagle (@J_Eagle01) November 8, 2022
Don’t we already spend billions of dollars on election administration? Maybe throwing money at the problem and doing nothing else to reform the system isn’t the solution.
— MjMisc (@MjMisc18) November 8, 2022
To recap: Some Ds completely failed at their job but want more money for their failure anyway.
— Focus on the Idea⭐️ (@FocusOnTheIdea) November 8, 2022
Wait. How do you know this is why the machines aren’t working correctly?
— JRP (@JRPSD) November 8, 2022
So your point is complete speculation. Do you anticipate this kind of problem elsewhere? Or did this one county dealing with widespread voting machine problems uniquely suffer from underfunding? https://t.co/C7oEt68uln
— Joe Gabriel Simonson (@SaysSimonson) November 8, 2022
Okay, do we know that has anything to do with today’s problem?
— Gurgun (@Gurgun1989) November 8, 2022
And yet elections are run with military precision in red Florida. Liberal media needs a new talking point.

— Fuddy Duddy (@yfuddyduddy) November 8, 2022
So, to recap…you want more money spent on malfunctions
— Jack Dorksey (@JackDorksey00) November 8, 2022
Complete horseshit. All paper and manual counting. Period. Most other nations do this and turn in results by the end of the day. This is NOT THE NORM like the looney left tries to convince everyone that it is.
— Michael Kinney (@MKinneyWA) November 8, 2022
They spent $3 million on new machines … was that not enough? Did the Republicans prevent them from spending the amount needed? What sort of argument is this?
