John Kirby takes issue with Peter Doocy's claim that 'we gave a whole country to a terrorist group'

The White House brought out Defense Department spokesman John Kirby Tuesday to talk to the press about both Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan (which he again said is not an independent nation) and the killing of al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in a drone strike over the weekend. President Biden has taken a well-deserved victory lap, but some people have found it troubling that someone so high up in al Qaeda could be found chilling on the balcony of a New York Times op-ed contributor in downtown Kabul.

Fox News’ Peter Doocy told Kirby, “You guys gave a whole country to a bunch of people who are on the FBI Most Wanted list,” to which Kirby took exception, naturally.

Small and mostly peaceful.

Doocy didn’t even mention the billions of dollars of hardware we left over there.
