It’s not difficult to find out how the Jeff Bezos-owned Washington Post feels about Elon Musk offering to buy Twitter for some $43 billion. Just a quick scroll down their Twitter timeline shows that, like so many journalists, they see it as a threat. Musk has offered to make the algorithms used to moderate Twitter public, but that’s not enough, says the Post.
Elizabeth Dwoskin writes Monday that “technologists” have “clapped back” at the idea of Musk’s free-speech utopia.
As Musk seeks a $43 billion hostile takeover bid for Twitter, critics say his ambition for what the platform should be — a largely unpoliced space rid of censorship — is naive, would hurt the company’s growth prospects and would render the platform unsafe. https://t.co/IjZR7C4MB5

“Would render the platform unsafe.”
Unsafe. 🤔 The real world is unsafe. Life itself is totally unsafe. Since when did we become so frightened?

The Washington Post did not just say “clap back…”

Not a single person takes Jeff Bezos's paper seriously on this topic.

Once you understand that “free speech” to a billionaire means the freedom for him to shape the narrative he wants to spread, then it makes sense why people don’t want Musk to take over Twitter.

This WPost piece on Musk shows how twisted big tech is:
“What Musk seemingly fails to recognize is that to truly have free speech today, you need moderation.”
To call censorship and bullying of anyone with a non-woke attitude “moderation” is insane. https://t.co/0AIqMjfzTW— David Asman (@DavidAsmanfox) April 18, 2022
We are now fully immersed in a ‘1984’ dystopia. They aren’t even trying to be subtle…

“1984” … ironically one of the books that public school teachers and librarians would remove from reading lists.
