Writer describes her attempts to publish a piece on why some liberals have embraced the 'Don't Say Gay' bill

We’ve seen some members of the gay community saying that the “LGB” part of the alphabet needs to cut itself loose from the “T” part because radical trans activists are actually hurting the gains the gay community has made with its own activism. There’s a big gulf between two adult men getting married and schools secretly drawing up “transition plans” for students without informing their parents. And we mention it a lot, but think about one school’s transition closet: Mom and Dad can send Alex to school dressed as a boy, but once the parents are out of eyesight, Alex can change into a dress and instruct the teachers to call her Alexa, and then do another switcheroo after school.

Lisa Selin Davis has published a piece on Substack called, “Why Some Liberals Embrace the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill,” which she’d hoped a major newspaper would publish. Instead, we have this thread:

Davis writes:

The [Parental Rights in Education] bill aims to make sure parents have rights such as accessing school records, and “prohibits school district personnel from discouraging or prohibiting parental notification & involvement in critical decisions affecting student’s mental, emotional, or physical well-being.” It prevents schools from encouraging “a student to withhold from a parent such information.”

Why would “the fundamental right of parents to make decisions regarding upbringing & control of their children” be necessary to vote into law when the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment protects parental rights?

Because some schools have been keeping information about children’s gender identity and mental health from their parents. Parts of this bill address a nonpartisan and very real issue: whether a school can secretly socially transition a child.

… the Littlejohns are one of two families that have filed lawsuits against Florida school boards for facilitating their children’s secret social transitions, not only without telling the parents, but deliberately keeping it from them. In one case, the school hid not only the child’s gender identity from parents, but a suicide attempt. Parents have also filed lawsuits in California and Wisconsin.

Maybe the schools should be a little less anxious to help the gender transition along without telling the parents.

Yep. We present to you congressional candidate Eric Sorensen:

“Encouraging.”
