CNN's Brian Stelter says the theme for the midterms on the Right is protecting kids from the dangers of Disney

CNN’s reliable source Brian Stelter is a little late to the party, but he’s noticed the conservative backlash against Disney. As usual, he gets it wrong. Stelter claims that the talking point on the right “is about protecting kids from the dangers of The Walt Disney Company.” But that’s not why Disney is facing a backlash. Disney’s CEO caved to internal pressure and said the company would sign a statement opposing so-called “Don’t Say Gay” legislation across the United States. Then, after the popular bill became law, Disney doubled down and said it remained committed to seeing the Parental Rights in Education law repealed. So … Disney has officially come out in opposition to a law that prevents kindergarten through third-grade teachers from leading discussions about sexual orientation and gender identity. Disney picked a side in this fight, and damn right conservatives are on the other side.

The Walt Disney Company had no stake in the bill, but a vocal minority of employees who were in pain, frustrated, and sad that kindergarten teachers couldn’t lead discussions about sexuality compelled CEO Bob Chapek to speak up. Disney chose this fight.
