We’ve been hearing a lot about “The West Wing” lately. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki recently said that binge-watching reruns of the show is what got her back into politics:

Big applause line for Larry O'Conner at CPAC on Psaki saying she had binge-watched the West Wing:
"We have legions of Chardonnay sipping, Peloton riding leftists in our government right now who were inspired by Aaron Sorkin and the West Wing, because they think it's real life."

Psaki also said on a podcast that she has “West Wing Brain.”

It’s scary to think of how many people in government were inspired by “The West Wing,” and then there’s the media. Sam Stein of Politico and MSNBC for some reason decided to act out the Aaron Sorkin version of President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, and it’s pretty embarrassing.
In the Sorkin version of tonight’s SOTU Biden pulls out a computer+ opens Zoom to reveal Zelensky who calls for a legislative deal of Ukraine military aid, refugee assistance, domestic drilling, Keystone, green energy subsidies + climate mitigation.

Back at 1600, Bruce Reed gives a triumphant fist pump. He turns to Klain: "We landed that plane. WE. LANDED. THAT. PLANE!”
Psaki bursts in: "I have Manchin’s chief on the line…. [dramatic pause]…. they wanna come back to the table!"

I wrote more believable storylines when I was ten years old and had a pile of Spider-Man figures. Less cringe, too.

Reading that tweet gives me second hand embarrassment. Wow.

I actually think we should punish Sorkin. We have a cohort of people who imagine politics like this and it will take a generation to get through them all.

Fun fact- Sam typed this with one hand.🙄

I think we can also all agree that no one should touch Sam's mouse and keyboard without gloves and a bucket of Purell.

This is absolutely pathetic.

The thing with Sorkin brain, which many people in dc suffer from, is not that it’s based on some contrived centrism (nothing Biden has done is moderate) but operates under the belief that being superficially clever and educated is rewarded and that the good guys(Dems) always win https://t.co/JLhIjuIBTa

Jen Psaki is utterly convinced she’s in a Sorkin show.

Between Aaron Sorkin and J.K. Rowling, an entire generation has been ruined.

That show sucked in spades.

Reading journalists covering the crisis in Ukraine and then seeing you on the timeline really is a whiplash of what is a professional.
