This tweet has slid through our timeline a few times today, and if there’s anything true about it, it’s that President Trump wanted to send (more) military aid to Ukraine. But remember that Trump was impeached for a quid pro quo agreement with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy; he’d receive aid in exchange for dirt of the Bidens and their dealings in Ukraine, allegedly.
In February 2020, just 2 years ago, 52 of 53 Republican senators voted to allow (then) President Trump to block congressionally authorized sale of critical military supplies to the courageous President Zelensky of Ukraine, unless Ukraine manufactured anti-Democratic propaganda.

Rothschild has 88,000 followers, and here’s a skewering of his claim:
So David Rothschild decided to lie to his hundreds of thousands of followers by creating misinformation for them to spread. Let's break down the lie. David Rothschild claims that 52 of 53 senators in February 2020 voted to allow President Trump to block aid to Ukraine. pic.twitter.com/8SQsjRknhA

Who is the lone senator that Rothschild leaves out? Mitt Romney. Because most of the Democrats and Republicans lives in a bubble that forgets what happened yesterday, in February 2020, there was no major legislation due to the impeachment of President Donald Trump pic.twitter.com/Cx1ykqUKm1

Let's start with a little history. If we read the impeachment bill that Congressman Schiff wrote up to impeach President Trump, $391 million was authorized by Congress to Ukraine on the basis of military aid. Note that it says "bipartisan". pic.twitter.com/WELEHNvAJn

A Defense News article helps break down that number. $250 million for "security cooperation funds for additional training…" and $141 million from the State Department. That gives you a total of $391 million. pic.twitter.com/VEnNArb8Zd

Let's browse Congress dot gov since no one ever bothers to check the claims, just to hit retweet and accept misinformation at face value. The amount comes from a bill with this vote. 301-123. So we look for the roll call in September 2019. Which gives us this bill. pic.twitter.com/1UwVCM5yeR

Click on HR 4378 and you get this page. Then you click "Actions" and see the votes which was 81-16 in the Senate. With me so far? Now let's look at the text of the law. pic.twitter.com/mMEJRm27vk
— Kaitain 🇺🇸 (@Kaitain_US) February 26, 2022
Search "Ukraine" and you get this section. It doesn't give you an amount but it points to Public Law 115-245. Let's go look at that. pic.twitter.com/bkTUFGBp9J
— Kaitain 🇺🇸 (@Kaitain_US) February 26, 2022
This law was passed in 2018 and we open up Public Law 115-245 which reveals us the amount that was allocated for 2019 to fund military assistance to Ukraine. pic.twitter.com/jXc1cdHbrc

Now who were the senators that voted against HR 4378? Blackburn, Braun, Cruz, Daines, Ernst, Hawley, Inhofe, Lee, Paul, Perdue, Risch, Rounds, Sasse, Scott, Scott, and Toomey. It wasn't because of Ukraine, it was a Continuing Appropriations budget. pic.twitter.com/u4eRpcn4xj
— Kaitain 🇺🇸 (@Kaitain_US) February 26, 2022
These same senators had their own bill which they wanted to trim the Appropriations bill by 2% but that failed 24-73. pic.twitter.com/2eueweidgv
— Kaitain 🇺🇸 (@Kaitain_US) February 26, 2022
So what is the vote that Rothschild referring to? It is the vote to CONVICT President Trump. We know the count. Rothschild gives us the number. 52 out of 100 senators which should be 48-52, right? In February 2020. Found it! pic.twitter.com/cfCZJNmxau
— Kaitain 🇺🇸 (@Kaitain_US) February 26, 2022
Since he says that Romney is the lone senator that voted against this supposed bill to withhold aid to Ukraine, right? pic.twitter.com/UF0X0KD9JT
— Kaitain 🇺🇸 (@Kaitain_US) February 26, 2022
Why was President Trump impeached? Congressman Schiff accused President Trump of Abuse of Power for withholding fund to Ukraine in a supposed quid pro quo. The bill says that Congress had already appropriated this money. Rothschild's list does not match the appropriation vote. pic.twitter.com/mG5GMXqzEz
— Kaitain 🇺🇸 (@Kaitain_US) February 26, 2022
Now rewind back to 2019. After Trump got in trouble for this withholding of funds, what happened after that? President Trump released the funds to Ukraine. pic.twitter.com/MoFUI4ULZW
— Kaitain 🇺🇸 (@Kaitain_US) February 26, 2022
So Rothschild lied about Congress denying fund to Ukraine and chose to obfuscate the timeline of what actually happened with the funding.

Excellent detective work.
