On Monday, we got the feeling that this week’s jobs report was going to be bad because White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that 9 million people had called in sick because of the Omicron variant at the time data was taken — meaning they were out sick, not unemployed.
On Wednesday, CNBC published a report saying that 301,000 jobs were “unexpectedly” cut in January as the Omicron variant slammed the labor market. That’s a bit short of the Biden administration’s predictions.
Prediction was plus 200k jobs
Reality was minus 300k jobs pic.twitter.com/FeCXnsZwMS

Maybe find new guesstimators?

Who are the people making these estimates? I feel they are ALWAYS wrong. Are they failed weather forecasters?

I'd lose my non-laptop job for prepping 200k chicken sandwiches, and having 300k not show up to eat them. My math may be suspect, but, you know, I don't have a laptop in my kitchen.

But…but…@SenSchumer and @ChrisMurphyCT told me the economy was booming under Biden? Maybe they meant imploding?

They always revise it, usually down so we can expect that this number is actually worse.
It’s ok, Peppermint Patty said they were simply out sick when attendance was taken.

Does not compute.
Did they fire everyone that called in sick?

"Omicron"… totally not woke mandates
— Detective Pepe (@MrDetectivePepe) February 2, 2022
Is this the cost of people being either fired or quitting because of vaccine mandates that took effect last month? I'll bet it was a MAJOR factor. Good going, Sleepy Joe!

"Unexpectedly" — a greatest hit from the Obama years is back.

Yeah right dude. The government keeps telling me the economy is the best it’s ever been.

Has anyone done an analysis of how off the “experts” have been in their monthly predictions? Seems like their predictions have been regularly between 200k and 500k high.

The guy above is right — it’s always “unexpectedly” low when a Democrat is president.
