On his first day in office, new Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin struck down all masks mandates in all school districts in the commonwealth. Some school districts just said they’d ignore the order, while it appears those in Loudon County have come up with their own solution to unmasked students; they’re reportedly plucking them out of their regular classrooms and putting them in “alternative” classrooms where they have access to remote learning or do “independent study.”
@LCPSOfficial is having people patrol the hallways, removing maskless kids from class, and sending them to a separate location.
Epically bad decision from Title IX Officer Scott Ziegler. #LoudounCounty

I am in an auditorium segregated from other students I refused to wear a mask.

Mine have been absolutely removed from class and are in what they said was an “alternate” classroom where they are doing “independent” learning until I pick them up..
I reminded them the bus runs at 2:15 and to make sure my kids are on it.— Chris Cagle (@Chris_S_Cagle) January 24, 2022
Separated, but equal.

This is messed up.

Just got a heads up that Loudoun County Schools are punishing kids who don’t wear masks by putting them in the equivalent of a rubber room without access to instruction.
Teachers insisting kids wear masks regardless of the Governor’s order and saying wait until SCOTUS decision.

Youngkin was a guest on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show Monday morning and said he’d set up a special email address for parents whose kids have been removed from class.
Apparently parents do have recourse, which is by sending notes here: https://t.co/YLcBmwXI6i

Update — Local news report: “Woodgrove High School Principal William Shipp said any student who did not wear a mask would be taken out of class and put in the school’s auditorium for virtual learning.” https://t.co/cZCcisPx9q

@LCPSOfficial masks is the battle you want to wage war on? Not rapes in your schools? I suppose if they're wearing a mask, it's all good, right?

This happened in my county in Oct after a fed judge mandated a mask mandate. My 3 elementary children sat in isolation for 2 weeks for refusing masks. No direct education.

Segregation now, segregation forever.

These school officials are grotesque monsters.

Insanity. Remove the masks

Are the other students at least wearing N95 or KN95 masks? Because we’ve now been told that cloth masks are little more than facial decoration, so we’re not sure kids in the classroom are any safer from Omicron.
