Way back in 2016, Texas was assured by an appeals court that photo ID is racist. Even a free voter ID is just too burdensome for the poor to obtain, and minorities are more likely to be poor; therefore, ID is racist. The Fifth Circuit determined that “the poor are less likely to avail themselves of services that require ID, such as obtaining credit and other financial services. They are also less likely to own vehicles and are therefore more likely to rely on public transportation. As a result, the poor are less likely to have a driver’s license and face greater obstacles in obtaining photo identification.”
So here we are in 2022, and Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bower is reminding citizens that they’ll need a photo ID “before heading out.”
Remember that starting Saturday you will need these three things before heading out:
1. Proof of Vaccination (12 years +)
2. Proof of Vaccination and Photo ID (18 years +)
