The Eric Adams administration is starting to shape up in New York City. Adams announced his pick of Keechant Sewell to be the commissioner of the New York Police Department during a press conference in Queens. It could have been done anywhere, but Adams decided to do it in front of a mural depicting convicted cop killer and fugitive Assata Shakur.

There’s something incredibly wrong with this picture and wholly insulting to the memories of the people depicted in the mural.
With the exception of Nat Turner, every person memorialized in that mural has an NYPD intelligence file with surveillance notes to the FBI

it's insulting to everyone involved

I'm sure this will end well.

Joanne Chesimard was a cop killer. Say her real name. Using her assumed name distances her from her crime.

Hey @ericadamsfornyc did you know someone on the mural is a communist fugitive wanted by the FBI for terrorism?
Now you do.

At least three of these "heroes" were involved in the murder of cops and/or judges. Where was this taken? Communist party headquarters?
— Airish1 (@airish1) December 15, 2021
Reportedly a housing project, so it is beyond a doubt it was intentional.
That mural should not exist.
