Here’s a thread by CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig that’s making a lot of Democrats very, very sad — even sick to their stomachs — so we thought we’d share it. Honig is giving an update on Attorney General Merrick Garland’s investigations into Donald Trump trying to steal the 2020 election and incite the January 6 insurrection. As it turns out, there’s no sign of any such investigation and not even Rep. Adam Schiff knows of one.
For anyone who believes Garland is running some highly-secret probe of Trump's role in trying to steal the election or January 6 — there's zero public sign of any such investigation, and neither the FBI Director nor Adam Schiff know of one.

"He's waiting for IG report!" (1) IG reports are limited in scope and capacity, and only examine internally DOJ's role, (2) it would be prosecutorial malpractice to sit back and let an IG finish its work before even starting on the criminal side.

"He's doing it right and keeping it super-quiet!" Maybe. That would mean he hasn't served any subpoenas or done any witness interviews (which people are free to disclose, generally), the media hasn't picked up on a whiff of anything, and neither FBI nor Schiff knows.

Again, not even Schiff knows, and he knows things no one else does.
“He’s working up from the bottom and flipping low-level players!” Like who? Who has been charged who might reasonably know anything about the involvement of Trump or other major power players? It’s not like he’s charged anyone close to inner power circles.

“He’s waiting for Congress!” Another full year from now? And again: this would be prosecutorial malpractice to wait that long and to allow key witnesses to go through a whole examination process before even starting on the criminal side. (Also: Schiff knows of no such thing).

Garland’s too busy going after parents at school board meetings to prosecute Trump. He’s decided who the domestic terrorists are.
