As Twitchy reported earlier, Sen. Chuck Schumer and other Democrats in town for the SOMOS conference in Puerto Rico were caught violating Puerto Rico’s indoor mask mandate, which requires that masks be worn in all indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status. Another tweeter caught AFT president Randi Weingarten and other school leaders also violating the mask mandate.

The SOMOS conference website alerted attendees to the mask requirement.
You could not be #Somos or the hotel or panel w/o proof of vaccination. I had also just done a rapid Covid test & was negative.Frankly I think you are right. If kids are wearing masks in schools to protect themselves & others educators must wear masks inside as well. I’m sorry.

But you enjoyed not having to wear a mask, right? While students in the city you live in – many of whom are vaccinated – have to wear their masks for 6+ hrs every day, even outdoors, while they're in school. If you claim to be pro-student, as you claim, it's time to take a stand.

I really think Randi doesn’t see how the rest of us view this. Her replies seem to contain some genuine shock to me. She should try eating lunch silently on the concrete in the rain—the only time of day she’s allowed to take her mask off (unless in her own household).

Some schools require kids to eat lunch outside, even if it’s raining, because of mask mandates. Just bring a change of clothes.
I would be furious if I weren't so utterly heartbroken for so many kids sitting in school for hours a day with no choice to remove their mask even for one minute without permission from a selfish adult who cannot see how this is harming our kids.
