The Office of the Vice President announced Monday that Mike Pence would be hosting something called the “Life Is Winning” event Wednesday highlighting the Trump administration’s pro-life accomplishments, such as cutting federal funds for Planned Parenthood and appointing pro-life judges.
CBS News’ abortion access reporter Kate Smith is “taking opinions out of it” (wonder what those opinions might be) and declaring it “incredibly tone deaf” for Pence to hold a pro-life event called “Life Is Winning” during a pandemic when “literally thousands of Americans are dying every day.”

“Taking opinions out of it, here’s my opinion.”
I love the thing CBS tries where they put a pro-choice reporter on the abortion beat, and she pretends to not have opinions by doing things like calling stuff she dislikes "tone deaf" https://t.co/E1zRQxOXgU

It's kind of an amazing innovation. Basically owning up to what the media has always been. Media writers should write on this.

It’s not being pro-choice, it’s being an activist and playing ‘reporter’ instead of simply having an editorial role that allows a point of view. For example, a reporter, by definition, wouldn’t have to lead with: ‘taking opinion out of it’ since that’s actually the job.

Does @CBSNews have a right to bear arms access reporter? How about a freedom of religion reporter? Activism from a major news network is fine but it is weird when they claim to be unbiased. https://t.co/P53YBjNRKo pic.twitter.com/mQ3ZkhDX4u

If literally thousands dying every single day is a news story, CBS News really ought to hire another reporter to cover pro-life issues and events, like Wednesday’s “Life Is Winning” event.
