Apparently we’re supposed to assume that Katie Hill resigned from office over revenge porn and not breaking a rule about having sexual relationships with subordinates, and we’re supposed to assume such a thing could ever happen to a man. At least that’s the take in the Washington Post Wednesday:
Analysis: Revenge porn drove Katie Hill out of Congress. Would that have happened to a man? https://t.co/YVLDx4IYIZ
— The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) October 30, 2019
It didn’t. Yes.
— Lulu Lapin (@Lulu_Lapin) October 30, 2019
So, the same thing would have happened to a man?

Anthony Weiner is holding on line 1.

Hill's constituents don't care about having seen her bare body.
They care that her abuse of her staffers was laid bare, and Hill isn't woman enough to face the consequences for that ethical breach.
The "revenge porn" aspect of this has always been a red herring.— Michele Blood (@BloodBrief) October 30, 2019

No, breaking House rules drove her out of Congress. #DemocracyDiesInDarkness

"She was taken down by people 'gleeful' about sexually humiliating a young woman in power" That young woman in power sexually humiliated a staffer. You're awfully gleeful about getting it exactly wrong.
— Anthony Bialy (@AnthonyBialy) October 30, 2019
Nope. Pssst…it wasn’t the revenge porn. One shouldn’t be sleeping with subordinates and then pay them off. You’re welcome.
— Chica'sBailBonds (@irinamoises) October 30, 2019
She screwed a subordinate
— Kurtis Marsh (@kurtismarsh) October 30, 2019
I think having an affair with her staffer did that.

Under eithics investigation due to the behavior she chose?
Sorry. The victom card has expired. Any other form of argument?

Hmmm… she’s a congresswoman & didn’t think about the ramifications of being photographed in a compromising manner?! I’d like to believe that those I entrust to do “the people’s business” have a bit better judgement than she’s demonstrated. on second thought, she’s a politician

They left will "cancel" anyone on the right for an allegation of anything.
When it's one of their own they will defend it.
You're exhausting and we're tired of this garbage.

Her actions brought about her end in Congress! Stop conflating the issue!

If a naked congressman sits in his office combing the hair of a subordinate then it should happen to him. Good grief
— WayWeWere (@KSPBHenri) October 30, 2019
Yes. Duh. Imagine an older male congressman photographed sitting naked behind his younger female staffer. He’d have been drawn and quartered by the WaPo.
— Forward Observer (@Mike___Kilo) October 30, 2019
The real question is what kind of coverage would there be if a republican man had photos appear like these with their subordinates. The subtle and not-so-subtle defense of her and her situation is unsurprising, but still ridiculous.

She resigned after an investigation into allegations she was sleeping with a subordinate. If she’s innocent, blame Nacy Pelosi
— Boston joe (@ramadiroach) October 30, 2019
So not the inappropriate relationships with staff in direct violation of congressional rules?
Also, if a certain congresswoman personally posted said photos to the internet, is that actually revenge porn? I mean, she put them into public domain.— Sherry W (@tobellewiththis) October 30, 2019
From the people who said Al Baghdadi was a religious scholar…Katie Hill is now a victim. https://t.co/LnPA4T20j7

Analysis: The Post is a dumpster fire and sleeping with her subordinates is what drive Katie Hill out of Congress.
