As Twitchy reported Sunday night, BuzzFeed published a piece trying to draw a line of causation from orthodox Jew Ben Shapiro to an anti-Semite who vandalized a synagogue in Indiana in 2018. In other words, it’s one of those pieces that lumps in Shapiro with the “far-right” and neo-Nazis no matter how many times he condemns them.
If you click back to that earlier piece, you’ll notice that BuzzFeed’s tweet has been deleted … seems it needed some tweaking.
.@BuzzFeedNews deleted this tweet to change from the man reading @benshapiro to his wife reading Shapiro. pic.twitter.com/UNmXXP6nVO

Breaking: the @benshapiro story at @BuzzFeed is in the process of changing.
We’ll keep you posted as the changes are closer to being finalized. pic.twitter.com/Mjrc0G3SAg

Also it wasn’t @benshapiro but his uncle Joakim Shapiro https://t.co/u2O9xe79CG

Aside from that, the story’s pretty solid.
The fact stands that @benshapiro is a radical Lib and the Libs are becoming increasingly dangerous
— Comfortably Smug (@ComfortablySmug) May 27, 2019
Why else would he live in Los Angeles?!
— DB (@dacheteur) May 27, 2019
Excellent point.
Ridiculous https://t.co/t7LIMW1X2p

I hate the term fake news, but it does apply sometimes. This is one of those times.
— Wright_A14 (@Wright_A14) May 27, 2019
Same. I will use it ironically, but yeah, this is why this term is so prevalent.

Explain how reading Ben Shapiro leads to being a Nazi. I am so confused. Did they just find him THAT off putting?
— Mamasaurus (@RawrNeedsCoffee) May 27, 2019
I'm sorry, what? Y'all want me to believe that this guy liked Ben Shapiro so much, that he became a Nazi? On what planet does idolizing a Jewish guy make you a Nazi?
— Wendy Giordano (@whatsyourtheory) May 27, 2019
reads a jewish guy, decides to vandalize a synagogue.
nazis are super smart
— Bored Badger (@barbaricblog) May 27, 2019
So his wife reads Ben Shapiro and he is a Nazi.
And..now…what?!
— ???????? ??????? ™ (@KlasicalLiberal) May 27, 2019
How does one get radicalized by what his wife reads?
— Richard Intruder (@RichardIntruder) May 27, 2019
Did his wife osmosis him the Ben Shapiro info?
— Woonanon (@Woonanon25) May 27, 2019
Radicalization by osmosis? Did he also put books underneath his pillow?
— Jaihawkk (@Jaihawkk) May 27, 2019
Are we sure it wasn't his third cousin reading Ben Shapiro's high school classmate that led to his radicalization?
Just embarrassing. https://t.co/wMTAZj4STt

I thought this smelled fishy when I first read about it.

Still curious how so many outlets think Shapiro, the No. 1 target of alt-right hate in the country, is some alt-right gateway drug to Naziism.
How many times has Ben Shapiro (the orthadox Jew) incited antisemitic violence on synagogues. pic.twitter.com/G7uxcSq8DO

I work in media. This was a hit piece to discredit a mainstream conservative voice. My wife and I are Catholic Latinos. We listen to @benshapiro. We've also met him. He's a good person and his show has deepened our appreciation for Israel, Judaism, and our shared values. https://t.co/ZAC8DIm5qP

Anyone who says Ben inspires white nationalism is a deceitful hack. Period. White nationalists aren't the country's most vocal critics of the Alt-Right or the #1 target for anti-Semitism, and they don't welcome Latinos into their office with kindness and respect. Stop the smears.
— Giancarlo Sopo (@GiancarloSopo) May 27, 2019
If you don't like Ben's take on politics or culture, that's ok. People can disagree. But don't smear a good person to create a false impression that there are no good conservatives. That's a lie. There are decent people on both sides. Ben's one of the good guys.
— Giancarlo Sopo (@GiancarloSopo) May 27, 2019
THIS EXACTLY! I worked with the guy for a year! Not once did I ever feel the need to go commit hate crimes. He doesn't preach hate at all. People hate on him because they're threatened by him. He has a gift of breaking down complex issues in a way so the masses can understand.
— Señia (@ayasgirl) May 27, 2019
The person that tried to lay the blame at Ben's feet can suck it.
