New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal happily tweeted Wednesday that the Third Circuit Court of Appeals had upheld the state’s law banning “large capacity magazines” — i.e., magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

The Free Beacon’s Stephen Gutowski spelled out what the court’s decision likely means to New Jersey gun owners:

Like most gun control of this kind, it's less likely police will go door to door to enforce the confiscation law and more likely it will be disproportionately used as a tack on charge to extend sentences of inner-city minorities brought up on other charges.

Still, if you posses a magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds in New Jersey after Monday, you're committing a felony. Even if you legally purchased it in New Jersey on Sunday. There's no grandfathering. It's straight up confiscation.

Lots of people in my mentions would like to see SCOTUS take this case up. That's always a possibility. However, they've been reluctant to take 2nd Amendment cases in the decade after Heller.

Only 4 justices need to agree to hear a case but even after Kavanaugh was seated they denied cert to a gun rights case earlier this year. Plus, generally, SCOTUS waits to weigh in until there's disagreement in the lower courts. Not sure if there is yet on magazine confiscation.

But that's more or less because New Jersey and California are the only states to go for a full confiscation scheme when regulating ammunition magazines. So, there isn't a ton of litigation out there on it.

Wow. You know what the practical difference is between two 15 round and three 10 round mags, each holding 30 rounds? One two second reload to fire all 30 rounds. Mag limits only make sense to those who hate guns anyway.
