Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum, who conceded the race to Ron DeSantis on election night but withdrew that concession Saturday after it appeared there were more votes to count, went after President Trump, Sen. Marco Rubio, and Governor-elect Rick Scott Monday night in a speech Monday night.
Gillum absolutely hammering Trump, Scott and Rubio from the pulpit of a church in Boynton — and invoking the historic demons of voter suppression:
‘Disenfranchisement isn’t just someone putting dogs on you, or putting a firehouse on you, or standing in the door…’

Standing in the door? Like the New Black Panthers in Philadelphia in 2008?
Is it just us, or is it bad form to concede and then, days later, spread the idea of widespread disenfranchisement?
Gillum: ‘What is more important to me than winning is that we don’t turn off a generation of people from the political process” by not counting every vote.

Yes, but there are rules in counting those votes, and (almost) all of Florida’s supervisors of elections seem to know and were able to abide by those rules. So maybe don’t drag out the police dogs and fire hoses when long lines are now considered voter suppression?
The race card has been played so often and for so many ridiculous reasons, the edges are frayed and the pips are almost totally worn off. Gillum just isn't Florida's choice for governor due to his policy positions. His race was not a factor.

Omg what a victim. So glad his stupid ass didn't win.

Yawn. It’s 2018.

Toxic rhetoric given the level of vote gap and the lack of any proof of such vote rigging in Florida. This is just as bad as exaggerating accusations of fraud. https://t.co/0zDNJwnnOJ

Waiting for @NateSilver538 and the cat lady from @ProPublica to condemn Gillum for undermining faith in the electoral system . https://t.co/JsJ6G1g7g6

No different really than John Lewis or Cory Booker. One never really expects to hear black Democrats talk about tariffs, NATO expansion, US role in Middle East, China's military threats to Pacific countries. etc. They'll start there but then move to Selma, AL very quickly.

Amen, it’s actually requiring a voter to properly register, present valid ID and let state and local boards of elections know of any changes of address in a timely fashion before an election! NO JUSTICE! NO PEACE! NO JUSTICE! NO PEACE!

After he conceded

Divider not a Uniter. Makes for a great governor.

A church podium is about all he’s good for. Bye bye, loser.
