As Twitchy predicted, plenty of media outlets were going with the standard “Republicans pounce” angle after some damning information came out of the DOJ Inspector General’s report, including a text from Peter Strzok reassuring Lisa Page that Trump would never become president: “We’ll stop it,” he texted back.
Here again is CNN’s take:

That wasn’t enough for CNN’s Chris Cillizza, who decided to take the “Republicans pounce” ball and run with it.
How 7 words in the 500-page IG report give Donald Trump all the 'deep state' ammo he wantedhttps://t.co/Z3odQqyy2h pic.twitter.com/FGf6dMEbhV

So the story isn’t the damning texts showing deep anti-Trump bias within the FBI; the story is how Trump supporters are taking seven words out of a 500-page report as “ammo.” Cillizza’s hot take:
PAGE: “[Trump’s] not ever going to become president, right? Right?!”
STRZOK: “No. No he won’t. We’ll stop it.”Those seven words are what Trump and his allies will seize on — casting them as definitive proof that the “deep state” not only didn’t want him to win but was actively working to keep him from the White House.

No. The FBI gave him all the ammo he needed.

The story isn't you know…the IG report, it's how TRUMP will use it to his advantage. https://t.co/f5IqfkKkpL

MSM: How 7 words uttered by the defendant, out of a 100 hours of testimony in a murder case lasting over 8 weeks, gave the prosecutors all the ammo they wanted.

To be somewhat fair, “I killed Mufasa” is only 3 words but it’s pretty damning for Uncle Scar.

Look, here’s more pouncing:
Can't decide whether it's more newsworthy that a senior FBI official assured another senior FBI official that "we'll stop" Trump's election, or that that one text was deleted from the texts submitted to congress. Whatever the case, neither is being reported on @CNN.
— Jason Beale (@jabeale) June 14, 2018
Strzok text is extraordinary evidence of attempted targeting — and the DOJ's refusal to turn it over to Congress is just as extraordinary. The American public are right to be deeply skeptical of this investigation. Mueller had better have something incredible.
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) June 14, 2018
Worth recalling that Mueller gave this guy the boot when these texts became known internally https://t.co/XvQg0Gj2Bh
