As Twitchy reported Sunday, Ivanka Trump posted a photo of herself hugging her 2-year-old son with the hashtag, #SundayMorning. It seemed innocent enough until reporters like Entertainment Weekly correspondent Dana Schwartz decided it needed to be politicized:
Imagine posting this on the day the top news story is 1500 children ripped from their parents who have no idea when they'll see them again. https://t.co/0aKvOe3B8F
— Dana Schwartz (@DanaSchwartzzz) May 27, 2018
As Twitchy and others reported, the children were not “ripped from their parents” — they were taken into custody at the border as unaccompanied minors who were sent by their parents to America and placed with relatives or sponsors here in the U.S. And one of the reasons HHS lost track of them was as Vox’s Dara Lind reported: many of their relatives likely made the decision to go “off the grid” to reduce deportation risk.
But what does this have to do with Ivanka Trump’s photo? Fear not: on Monday, CNN’s crack team was ON IT:
Ivanka Trump is facing backlash for posting this photo of herself embracing her 2-year-old son amid reports of families being separated at the Mexican border https://t.co/T7OB9hlqG0 pic.twitter.com/P3GV2kBagR

i assume you, @CNN pointed out the ridiculousness of that claim, right?
Right? https://t.co/9hJoePSsoo— BayAreaFrau (@bayareahausfrau) May 28, 2018
Sounds like a case of apples vs. bananas to us.
No, you're ginning up additional bullying over an innocuous photo https://t.co/J2Vlcy5Lm7

For journalism students everywhere: This is known as "manufactured outrage". There is no correlation between the photo, or the "reports" which were themselves inaccurate, but this network has created a narrative that fits their ideological point of view. It's called #FakeNews https://t.co/Jbux1kAghC

Ivanka Trump is being accused of "insensitivity" because she posted a picture embracing and showing love to her 2 year old. So let me get this straight, because of the 'border battle' it isn't ethical for her to show love to her own? This is an all-time low for critics!! #Shame https://t.co/i0vDn9risz

This paints a very strange narrative, where we live in a world where Ivanka is not doing a good enough job hiding her desire to tear families apart? Look @CNN, when you make your #FakeNews narratives, at least try to make them believable. https://t.co/vDZaKll3Dj

Sooo…
The implication is that we can't hug our kids because of Illegal immigrants? I'm confused. https://t.co/KvosylgpXr

Collateral damage. Leave Ivanka alone. It's a beautiful pic and glad to see there's some loves being displayed from someone in that Clan. https://t.co/IaCRd6PZIH

@CNN has become a parody of a news organization. They are almost indistinguishable from The Onion, expect the latter is at least honest about being parody. https://t.co/w0kvdGcWb4

Hey, the Women’s March was outraged enough to demand that Ivanka Trump do something about immigration policy:
As women, we make this appeal to @IvankaTrump: You are the mother of three young children. You have the power to convince this administration to #EndFamilySeparation. We demand you take action. https://t.co/Oj7O9kViDO
