Jimmy Kimmel, who brought his own child on to the set of his late-night show to deliver a tear-filled monologue about health care policy, is tired of children being used as bargaining chips — especially when it comes to CHIP funding.
A tiny war broke out Wednesday when Doug Andres, press secretary for House Speaker Paul Ryan, brought this tweet to Kimmel’s attention:
Going to be interesting to see how many Dems vote against a 6-yr CHIP extension in the CR. Policy isn't an issue and now the problematic offsets are gone.

Funnyman Kimmel was not amused.
Shame on you for making CHIP a bargaining chip, shame on you for tying our children's lives to immigration and shame on you and @SpeakerRyan for doing ANYTHING other than funding CHIP cleanly and IMMEDIATELY.

Leave it to America’s conscience to dole out the shame. But the question stands — how many Democrats will vote against the continuing resolution that includes a six-year CHIP extension?
Republicans are the ones funding CHIP completely and immediately. Democrats are the ones voting no. https://t.co/vLBOncsdIE

Also, on what planet are Republicans the ones tying anything to immigration? https://t.co/vLBOncsdIE

Democrats voted against CHIP funding 3 times. Did you get this tweet from Sen. Schumer? https://t.co/YgAl2QH6TH

Don’t let the facts get in the way of your agenda. You should be outraged Dems voted 3x against funding CHIP https://t.co/l2xr3yLi4B

I don’t mind comedians getting involved, but it would be really great if they were informed at all on the issues. Jimmy obviously has no idea what’s happening on Capitol Hill. https://t.co/WpEUWWa93e

A demonstration of how absurd Jimmy Kimmel is. This a BIPARTISAN BILL reported out of the Finance Committee. So why are you mad? There is NO immigration deal that can become law, so let's get this program for poor kids reauthorized. https://t.co/tb9J1z6sFw

Republicans offer a bill keep government open for a month and it also fully funds CHIP for 6 years.
Democrats refuse to support it, will block it in the Senate.@jimmykimmel blames Republicans. Is he dumb or…actually, there is no other option. https://t.co/aVmVCGXWCA— Derek Hunter (@derekahunter) January 17, 2018

Shame on you for using your kid as a prop to make a factually false political rant on national TV. https://t.co/QdVF4vqCzL
