The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced Saturday though a press release that its board of governors had voted “well in excess” of the two-thirds majority needed to kick out producer Harvey Weinstein, dogged by decades of allegations of sexual harassment and assault.

The Academy hopes to send a message that “the era of … sexually predatory behavior and workplace harassment” in the movie business is over.
In expelling Weinstein, @TheAcademy says "the era of willful ignorance and shameful complicity in sexually predatory behavior and workplace harassment in our industry is over."
